Use case · Prototyping
Prototype XR ideas
in an afternoon.
Block out a scene in the browser, open it on a headset with one link, and change it while the team watches. No engine to install, no build to wait for.
Why AllegoryXR
Built for prototyping.
No engine, no install
The editor runs in the browser. Start a scene and place objects in minutes — on the laptop you already have.
Test on the real device
Publish and open the link on a Quest, a Vision Pro or a phone. The same link keeps working as you change the scene.
Hand developers real code
Every scene is A-Frame — HTML, JavaScript and CSS. Pull the scripts into a repo when the prototype becomes a product.
Describe it. AI builds it.
Ask the assistant in your dashboard, or your own agent through the CLI or MCP. You review and publish.
Block out a VR waiting room — 4 × 6 m, a bench and two floor lamps — and make the door glow when someone looks at it.
scenes.createCreated the scene “Waiting room”entities.createAdded floor, four walls, a door, a bench, two lamps — sized in metrescomponents.addAdded a light on each lampscripts.pushWrote door-glow.js, attached to the door
Done — 9 entities and one script. Open “Waiting room” in the editor to review, then publish.
How it works
From idea to link in four steps.
1 · Block out
Place primitives and models at real scale to test layout, distance and sightlines.
2 · Add behaviour
Attach components and scripts — write them yourself or ask an AI assistant.
3 · Share one link
Send the link to reviewers. Headsets enter VR; everyone else looks around in the browser.
4 · Iterate
Change the scene and publish again. Reviewers refresh — no new build, no new link.
Under the hood
Hand off to code
When it is time to build it properly, pull the scene’s scripts into a folder and keep working in your own editor and repo.
npm install -g allegoryxr allegory login allegory scenes list --search prototype allegory scripts pull scene_abc123 # edit, then send back only what changed allegory scripts push --dry-run
Questions
Prototyping, answered.
Do I need Unity or Unreal to prototype in VR?
No. AllegoryXR runs in the browser and publishes to the web, so a prototype is a link rather than a build. That makes it fast for testing ideas; for a full game or app you may still move to an engine later.
Can I test the prototype on a Meta Quest?
Yes. Open the published link in the Meta Quest Browser and tap Enter VR. See Download for other devices.
What do developers get at the end?
A-Frame scenes made of HTML, JavaScript and CSS. Developers can pull scene scripts with the Allegory CLI and work in their own tools.
Can AI help build the prototype?
Yes. Assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT can write A-Frame components, and agents can work on scenes through the CLI and MCP server.
